Brenda Lykins announced her candidacy for Pierce County Council, District 7, the seat being vacated by Robyn Denson.

Brenda is launching her campaign focused on strengthening local communities, improving public safety, supporting responsible growth, and ensuring county government works for the people of the Key Peninsula, Gig Harbor, North Tacoma, Ruston, and surrounding neighborhoods.

“Pierce County is an incredible place to live, work, and raise a family,” said Lykins. “I’ve called Pierce County home for 45 years, living in both Gig Harbor and North Tacoma. I’ve seen how rising costs, infrastructure demands, public safety, and economic opportunity impact our daily lives in District 7. I’m running to work together with our community and deliver thoughtful, collaborative leadership.”

Brenda is a Nurse Practitioner who has also been actively involved in the community. She served on the Gig Harbor City Council from 2022-2025, including serving as Mayor Pro Tempore and represented the city on the Pierce County Regional Council.  In 2025, Brenda was elected to serve on the Pierce County Charter Review Commission for District 7. Throughout her healthcare career and community service, she has seen firsthand the need for thoughtful leadership that compassionately listens and leads.
